Eunice Balamotis

 

Eunice (Phillips) Balamotis, 97, a resident of the Pawtuckeville section of the City, died Wednesday morning at Fairhaven Health Care Center in Lowell surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of the late George Balamotis who died November 9, 1982.

Born in Dracut, Massachusetts, February 25, 1916, the daughter of the late James and the late Angelike (Demaras) Phillips, she received her education in the Dracut and Lowell school system. She went on to attend Lowell Technological Institute (nka U/Mass Lowell).

Eunice worked as a sales associate at for the former Bon Mache and later Jordan Marsh in Lowell for over 45 years until her retirement.

An avid reader, Eunice enjoyed poetry and was fluent in several languages among them, Greek, German and Spanish.

She was a proud lifelong member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity.

Eunice is survived by her son Philip N. Balamotis of Lowell with whom she made her home; a daughter in law Martha (Fritz) Balamotis of Lowell; seven grandchildren Philip J. Balamotis of Lowell, Kimberly A. Balamotis of Plaistow, NH, Karen L. Reed of Pelham, NH, Tracey A. Greenwood of Marion, Laura Alexander of Bedford, NH, James Balamotis of Lowell and Anthony Balamotis of Quincy; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was also the mother of the late James H. Balamotis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service to be held Monday morning at the HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY at 10 o’clock. Please meet at church.
