Lawrence K. Stowell

Beloved father, grandfather, in-law, uncle and friend

Lawrence K. “Larry” Stowell, 84, a well-known and well-liked member of the community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 21, 2021 at D’Youville Senior Care surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of the late Eileen M. (McDonald) Stowell who died in 2005.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, March 26, 1937, the son of the late Frederick C. and the late Mary (King) Stowell, he attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and was a graduate of Keith Academy Class of 1955.

Following his service with the National Guard he went on to graduate from Lowell Technological Institute in 1973 (nka U/Mass Lowell) with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and was also  a member of the school Golf Team.

Prior to his retirement, Larry was the General Manager for M.F. Horan Company where he worked for over 45 years.

He was a longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister, a Senior Server and a longtime member of the parish golf committee.

Active in the community, Larry was a Past President and coach of Pawtucketville Youth Organization (PYO).

A talented golfer, Larry was a Past President, longtime Board member and a Life Member of Long Meadow Golf Club. In addition, he was former player and committee member of the Lowell City Golf Committee for many years.

He is survived by his daughter Christine Coomas and her husband Michael of Dracut; two sons John L. Stowell and his wife Margaret of Hollis, NH and Craig M. Stowell and his wife Stavroula of Westford; seven grandchildren J. Bradley Stowell and his wife Kati, Erin Stowell, Lauren Coomas, Corinne Coomas, Evan Stowell, Eleni Stowell and William Stowell; three sisters-in-law Elsa Stowell of North Chelmsford, Janeann Kay of Chelmsford and Margaret Mary Hinde and her husband Timothy of Billerica; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his siblings Frederick Stowell, William Stowell, Paul Stowell, Frances Harrington, John Stowell, Raymond Stowell and Robert Stowell.

Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Sunday July 25, 2021 from 2 to 5 P.M. David C. Hood

Loving partner, brother, uncle, cousin and friend;

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of David Campbell Hood on June 1, 2021.

David was born in Lowell, Ma September 17, 1970 and raised in Dracut, Ma. He has left us much to soon.  He joins his late cherished parents Barbara (Hood) & Robert J. Angluin and his beloved brother Mark David Hood, who passed on August 6, 2020.  We take solace knowing they are reunited in heaven.

He leaves behind his life partner Julie DiGirolamo & their “daughter” dog: Willow Rose of Wilmington, his sister Karen (Hood) LaFramboise & her husband Mark of Dracut, his niece Courtney (Dalphond) Giordano, her husband David and their two daughters Chloe and Sydney of Billerica.  He is also survived by his aunt Rose Marie Prescott of NH, his Godmother Judy Kostoulakos of NH, his large and loving stepfamily: the Angluin’s & their families, and many cousins. He nurtured and cherished lifelong friendships:   Kevin & Allie Sgro and Paul & Jen Moreira and many other dear friends, locally and in many parts of the country.

David was a very gifted athlete throughout his life and spent his early years pursuing a career in an “unknown” sport now called MMA. He helped to bring this style of fighting to Massachusetts and upon retiring spent many years teaching and mentoring other young athletes.  His famous teaching line, “things should be felt before they are seen” and “Learn to see and be within yourself” has been repeated often in people’s recollections of his beliefs.

In life, he was a VERY bright light!  Anyone who spent time and got to know David was rewarded with a loyal friendship, protection and sometimes… to much fun!  For those he loved, they will miss his powerful style of loving.  You could see it in his eyes and feel it in his intense hugs.  David was a deep thinker, a passionate man and appreciated solitude to practice his devotion to his arts.

In his older years David enjoyed a long and loving relationship with Julie and their dog, often playing his guitars at Rye Beach.  He became a quiet man and yearned for peace, which he found with his small family.  He enjoyed watching his loved ones as he often engaged in “Facebook watching” unbeknownst to them.  He will be deeply missed and always loved, by those who cherished him.

Christine R. “Sissy” Ferbert

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend;

Christine R. “Sissy” Ferbert, 53, of Lowell, Massachusetts a member of a widely known Greater Lowell family, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 14, 2021 after an extended illness.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 25, 1968, the daughter of the late Richard A. and the late Regina M. (Ahearn) Ferbert, she received her education in the Lowell school system.

Christine worked in the house cleaning industry hotels and local businesses prior to dealing with a long-term illness for 28 years.

She was very talented and artistic. Christine enjoyed writing poetry and all forms of art and was also a woman of deep faith.

Christine is survived by her son James J. Mendonca of Lowell; her daughter Charlene Dotson of Knightdale, NC ; two grandchildren Tatianna Velez of Lowell and Mackenzie Dotson of Knightdale, NC; five siblings Patricia A. Morin and her husband John T. of Lowell, Vickie R. Codeere and her husband Jeffrey of Lowell, Richard A. Ferbert of Lowell, Shawn F. Ferbert and his fiancée Penny Smith of Hudson, NH, and Keith A. Ferbert of Lowell; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was also the mother of the late Jamie Lee Ferbert and sister of the late Nancy R. Oteri and the late Deborah A. Provencher.

James F. Foley
Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother

James F. Foley, 84, of Tyngsboro, formerly of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Friday July 16, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital.

He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Eleanor M. (Kelley) Foley, who survives him.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 28, 1937, the son of the late Joseph J. and the late Gertrude (O’Neill) Foley, he attended St. Peter’s school and was a graduate of Keith Academy in the Class of 1954. Jim went on to graduate from Merrimack College with a Bachelor of Science in Business.

Prior to his retirement, Jim was the purchasing agent for the Lowell Housing Authority for many years. Previously, he worked at Kelley Business Forms and Sanders Associates.

Jim was all about family and enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the beach, Nantucket and Naples with his children, grandchildren and his loving wife, Eleanor.

A longtime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Jim was humble in nature but an ardent and dedicated volunteer for the parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Oblate Mission Guild and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

He is also survived by three daughters Donna Ravndal and her husband Frank of Fox Point, WI, Susan Quinn and her husband Joe of Westport, CT, Maura O’Brien and her husband Jim of Andover, a son, Jim Foley and his wife Nancy of Bedford, NH, a son-in-law, Fran Lucey and his wife Marianne of Wilmington, DE, 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a brother, John L. Foley and his wife Ginger of Swampscott, a sister, Carmen Foley, SC of Wellesley, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was also the father of the late Martha Lucey who died in 1996 and the brother of the late Joseph Foley and Mary Noon. He was also predeceased by a grandson Andrew Sibiski.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday morning, July 21, 2021 at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in Lowell at 11 o’clock and burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in North Tewksbury.
